Course Calendar (2018)
This was my second calendar as the Lead Designer of the project.
This time I had a turnaround of only 25 days to insert course descriptions and design all article spreads, inside spread and cover, but I didn’t want the short time-frame to affect the overall quality of the publication. In fact, I made a commitment to make it even better than the previous one.
Based on the student survey answers we got, I decided to have the calendar cover and the whole advertising campaign (online banners and transit shelter ads) around the same theme; journey.
“Currently, I find continuing education a pleasurable activity and it keeps me stimulated as I get older. It feels good to learn new things and be stimulated.”
“It’s not about the reward at the end of the program, but rather the enjoyment of the process itself that made the difference.”
“It’s not about the destination, but the glory of the journey.”
The calendar title and all the article titles were designed using vintage fonts and vintage design elements and techniques, giving to the calendar a never-seen-before look that speaks directly to the older demographic, which the vast majority of UVic Continuing Studies’ students belong to.
